Going back to 1981 for the moment, this story introduces Atrumo, who might be a useful villain in a number of ways.
William Delaney existed only in one story written ages ago, now surviving as a dozen faded typewritten pages stapled together in the files. "Hail, the Master!" was only related to the Midnight War because Delaney was shown as a Kumundu master. In that story, he was a sixteen year old wiseguy wandering Manhattan and getting into trouble. He called himself the Kumundu Kid once or twice in a sarcastic way. There's nothing in that old story which actually contradicts this one. Maybe someday I'll retype it. As it is, I expect Delaney will turn up again. But, like Dandelion, he's not a hero with a rough side, he's a villain with a weakness which will work against him.
Although no one realize it, at the same time this story takes place, the top Mummy mastermind Menekartes has begun bringing in both slaves and mercenaries to begin rebuilding Khebir. We see the results of this in 1987.
