In the New York City area, Harak had been robbing occultists of various Midnight War talismans and rare grimoires. In doing so, he had unnecessarily decapitated two of them. This had attracted the attention of Kenneth Dred, who in turn informed his new protege Jeremy Bane all about Harak the Damned.

The first third of this story needs to be fleshed out a lot more with dialogue and descriptions. I wrote down an outline one night when I didn't have my laptop handy but didn't want to forget the story,

It's a weird habit, but I want every KDF member from the different eras to have at least two or three solo stories. And I want a team-up story with Bane and every other member. This probably comes from reading way too many Silver Age comics as a kid.

Larry Taper was probably the KDF member that Bane could along with the least. Mostly this was because of Taper's admittedly annoying use of unnecessarily obscure or flamboyant words; Jeremy Bane technically was literate in that he could read and write but he had no real time in schools. There was also the fact that Taper had started in the Midnight War a few years before Bane, was quite happy working alone and also had the confidence of a respected professional in his field.

Harak the Damned was one of my earliest characters and a useful all-around bad guy, but the stories he appeared ( ... )
