So I'm on twitter, right?  Being an idiot and happily tweeting (twittering?) and trying not to add everything amazing that everyone ever says to my favorites or get retweet-happy or anything.  You know.  Acting like the twit-n00b I am.

And I retweeted something George Takei tweeted yesterday after I started following him (

Oh, geez. That's too much pain to deal with over an extended period of time, especially without any relief. Do you know if there are other options for pain management that can be employed quickly?

BUT NOT AS AWESOME AS I HOPED. My mom, incidentally, is following him as well, and she too received a 'thank you for following' message. Reportedly, however, there was no mention of retweeting often and hard in hers. There are, I think, three logical possibilities:

- The account is somehow set up to send automated thank you messages to watchers.
- Takei has twitter minions who send out thank yous.
- Takei spends a helluva lot of time on his computer.

Katie. Katie, Katie, Katie. I love George Takei. He's one of the most incredible humans ever and one of my only childhood heroes who's still alive. I am all flaily.

Oh! And--unrelated, but my foot? I went to the doctor and he was baffled because the skin tear on my heel apparently looks like a "deep burn" (whatever that looks like). I'm going to a "wound center" on Monday where they can see if they can do something exciting, but I have a salve doctors use for burns and Ace wraps in the meantime.

Also, I learned something! Don't use hydrogen peroxide to clean injuries

That would delight me. It's weird, though, because he shows up on, like, every show I watch. Top Gear, Big Bang Theory, Community... if he makes guest appearances on The Tim Gunn Show Project Runway and My Fair Wedding and does a guest voice for the MLP cartoon, he'll have infiltrated every show I watch

You could do it! Apparently everyone who follows him gets a message (my mother follows him, and hers was slightly different).

"Retweet me often and hard," when mentally read in Takei's voice, sounds very, very naughty. I mean, it's kind of naughty anyway, but that really takes it up a level.

AND ON THE SAME DAY, Alex, I won a Chekov Star Trek action figure signed by Walter Koenig (who I would follow on twitter if I could) for a total of $20.50. The stars, they are aligned! And they are telling me to go watch "The Trouble with Tribbles" again.
