SOURCE Sure, the guys in ‘The Expendables’ are all true butt-kickers… But what would an all-female team look like? Turns out, pretty awesome.
In just a few weeks, the testosterone fest known as The Expendables hits theaters in a screen-rattling, action-packed, explosive extravaganza. I desperately want this movie to be as good as the
trailers and clips have hinted at so far because if it isn’t, then it means that all the male action stars that I admired and enjoyed watching as a young kid and teenager have truly gone the way of the dodo. If that turns out to be the case, then action movie fans will have to muddle through brief glimpses of theatrical enjoyment from the likes of
Gerard Butler.
I don’t think it’s likely to happen, but what if… just WHAT IF,
The Expendables fails to impress both casual movie audiences and action fans alike? What do we do then? Will action movie fans have to settle for new action heroes like Gerard Butler whose films range from the over-the-top action film
300 to the ridiculously inept rom-com The Bounty Hunter?
NO! I’ll tell you what we do - we turn to the action ladies of cinema and let them loose on some bad guys! Sometimes we tend to forget that there have been a long line of major butt-kicking ladies who not only get the job done, but do it looking sexy as hell. Jane Fonda in Barbarella, Uma Thurman in Kill Bill 1 & 2, Rhona Mitra in Doomsday and Underworld 3 - all these women knew how to whoop some major rear while still being completely feminine.
We at Screen Rant thought: “Who would we pick to be on our all female ‘Expendables’ team?” and let me tell you, I think we came up with a fantastic list. There may not be some of the newer action lady stars like Rosario Dawson (Death Proof), Zoe Bell (Whip It!), Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary), Summer Glau (Firefly) or Eliza Dushku (Dollhouse) - but only because we wanted to find appropriate (age, popularity, etc.) counterparts to the male actors in The Expendables.
