This is very Boston (by way of Ireland) of her. I always see people bring their significant others or friends to awards shows but I always know someone is a Masshole if they bring their parents. We all have a weird karmic debt to our parents in which they fully get to claim our success as their own and we are like “well yeah, they are our parents.” It’s just a different level of the Catholic guilt we are groomed by.
