Zooey Deschanel (New Girl, 500 Days of Summer) and Jonathan Scott (HGTV, Property Brother) have gotten engaged. The pair has been dating for 4 years and met during a taping of Carpool Karaoke in 2019.

This will be Deschanel's third marriage and Scott's second.

The fact that they just got engaged makes it even weirder to me that he was upset her kids didn't want to call him "dad".

(Also looking at Wiki there was either overlap or she started dating him months after splitting up with the kids actual dad. Dude, slow your roll).

the ring isn't my style but I appreciate it's not cookie cutter and I like gemstones with color because I tend to find diamonds boring.

I agree on both counts. While this is not a ring I would spend $42k on, I do appreciate that it's not the usual diamond solitaire. The colored flowers fit her cutesy twee vibe. It's not as hideous as some of the horrendous rings from the ONTD ugliest engagement ring bracket from a few years ago. I will never get some of those images out of my brain!
