That’s ridiculous. He’s amazing and have an amazing performance but there isn’t enough material to properly go against someone like Jeremy or Kieran who just have more to do.

He should have gone guest since that’s really what he was this season.

I think Matthew McFayden is taking it this season. This week's fight scene alone is a masterclass.

Is Matthew supporting or lead though?

I could see arguments for both. I guess he'll probs go supporting though since Kieran and Jeremey are going lead. I can see Matthew winning supporting and Kieran winning lead.

I think he is going supporting. Kieran and Jeremy switched to Lead, I think Matthew and Nicholas are staying supporting.

he's got one nom already, i wouldn't be shocked if he gets another (even if he has been borderline irrelevant this season, lol)

That's an interesting strategy given how quickly he was killed off. Is guest actor even crowded this year?

I saw some speculation in the past that he might not want to submit for Guest Actor as it’s not considered as prestigious, apparently it’s not a category that gets awarded on the night of the main show, so he likely wouldn’t want to win for that when he was a lead for most of Succession’s run

Seems like a dumb decision to me though when everyone was assuming that he would get an easy win for that, while the rest of the cast would take lead and supporting, instead there’s a real risk now of Kieran, Jeremy, and Brian splitting the votes if they’re all up against one another in the same category

I’m a bit surprised because I wouldn’t think Brian Cox would care that much about the prestige of the category. And given Succession plus the last of us guest actor nominees they may have chosen to televise the category this year.

honestly, if it all leads to a bob odenkirk win in lead actor i can't say i'd be really upset

It’s weird to me that actors submit themselves for nominations. I just always thought a group of people decide who is nominated and for what.

I feel like it's still technically the studio that submits them and not the actor? But it's sort of presented as them submitting themselves. But also, maybe I think that because it makes it more tolerable lmao

But also yeah, I always assumed a group of people decided the nominees randomly, but I guess they 'submit' which episode they would like to be consider for and in what category as kind of a guide. I think most studios submit most if not everything, no? And a jury can't realistically watch everything, so they narrow it down to like, consider this actor in this category in this episode to make it easier for people.
