I love this trend of repackaging exploitation for commercial gain as justice of some sort. Love it.

Genuinely, I don't understand why this isn't fictional. Loosely based on their story or 'inspired by' so the show can play up thief hijinks and a sexy love story and just skip over all the real life stuff.

Yeah. Simply rehashing it and adding a bit of a “oh wasn’t it bad” disclaimer isn’t serving justice, it’s repackaging the original exploitation for re-sale.
