JFC the news on this has been horrific. This is Brandon Lee all over again.

ETA: Allegedly Baldwin screamed "who gave me a hot gun" or something right after the incident happened so holy shit, this had happened without him knowing

How negligent, stupid, and cheap do you have to be to hire a non-union armorer. What the fuck.

I’m hearing the union camera crew walked because they were upset about gun safety on the film up to that point.

This accident occurred the very next day. #rust #iasolidarity #iatse https://t.co/eMHy5xPXJG

Honestly if I was the main star of the film and was aware of how they were feeling I’d back them fully and have to them reevaluate. This is fucking sick

Also, Baldwin is apparently a producer so he had some power on that set if he wanted to exercise it.

People are going to jail for this. Like the complete negligence here is baffling. What an awful situation for the poor woman who was killed and the person that was injured. I’m also sympathetic to Alec Baldwin, since this was obviously an accident.

Yeah, Baldwin's a tool and all but I can't imagine living with something like this. It would haunt me every single day.

Yea he definitely doesn't deserve that trauma and guilt at all

Seriously. He obviously isn't actually at fault because he was just doing his job and had no idea that the person responsible for the gun had been so negligent, but he still has to live with the fact that it was his finger that pulled the trigger.

The fact that is has happened several times in the past like with Brandon Lee and Jon Erik Hexum

Wasn't Hexum's case more that he was ignorant to the dangers of blanks at pointblank range rather than improperly managed props on set?

Partially. But from my understanding; if a gun is not currently being used in a scene, it's suppose to be in the weapons master's (or an assistant's) possession.

Like if the shoot had to be delayed because there's a problem with the lights, the actor is not supposed to be holding on to the gun or just have it sitting around on a table or something until the issue gets resolved.

This is kind of different. But not better or worse.

Those incidents had blanks in the gun. With Brandon Lee it seems that a small bit of shrapnel from a previous blank was lodged in the gun and then functioned as a projectile that hit Brandon Lee the next time the gun with fired. With Hexum there were blanks but he didn't know the damage the blanks could still do so when he fired the gun at his head the force of the blank did enough damage to kill him because it was point blank.

This incident seems to have ACTUAL LIVE ROUNDS which is a total wtf. How did that happen?
