In this episode, no. The contestants all showed up at the Met together (unlike previous seasons where they had various contestants show up one at a time or in groups to meet each other/get introduced to the audience) and then Christian, Elaine, Brandon, and Nina all took turns saying a few lines about the challenge.
I had mixed feelings about this episode/the new season. I hate team challenges in general, but working in teams of EIGHT? Ugh. Of course that's going to make it harder to have a cohesive collection, especially in the first episode when they aren't familiar with each other's styles

I was trying to work the logistics out of having a day/night challenge! not enough camera people on hand? but then is the crew working 14+ hours to film everything? pointing out cheap Project Runway tactics has become an annual event for me
I figured it was some kind of Covid measure still in effect that made them go for shifts, I know they tend to be cheap but that is the same work space they had last season and it did fit 16 people back then so it wouldn't make sense if it doesn't fit the same amount of people now.
Housing always is divided though, that's nothing new.
