The Nobel Prize for Economics has been awarded to David Card "for his empirical contributions to labour economics", the other half jointly to Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens "for their methodological contributions to the analysis of causal relationships ( Read more... )

i know very little about any of these folks, but the article mentioned that card published research indicating that increasing the minimum wage in the fast food industry does not result in job reduction, so that's cool. i'll have to check out more of their work.
