My last science class was in high school nearly 20 years ago but the written for a layperson article about what they discovered and how it could be used was very cool. They want their discovery to be used to develop new treatments for chronic pain. Neat!

Literally breaks my brain to think about how smart people like this are, but it's good that they're around and using their talents for good!!

This reminds me of how my cousin, who has a PhD in genomics (I think? idk man), will talk about experts in her field like they are celebrities. She'll be like "So I'm speaking at a conference next month, and one of the other speakers is Dr. SoAndSo, I'm so excited!!" And my husband and I are just like "...Wait, who is that?" and she'll be like "Oh, he's the guy who discovered blah blah blah, I've always admired his work". Like, I'm sorry, but I am never gonna know leading cancer researchers by name! Be more specific!

The Norwegian Nobel committee is only for the peace prize. The scientific awards are from the main Swedish committee
