Oh wow. I don’t know anything about this young lady, but my kid was diagnosed with T1 just a few months ago. It’s pretty isolating and often scary-a really dark combo lol, so seeing this kind of visibility breaks my heart in a really nice way. Thank you for sharing it, OP.

I imagine you've already looked into many resources, but I find that the diabetes_t1 and the diabetes subs on Reddit have helped me a lot as a diabetic and I always tell people to check them out.

Thank you! I’ve taken up residence in the T1 sub and so many other diabetes-related subs. Those strangers have literally saved my sanity in these last months. :)

Strong +1 to the online communities like reddit or even on instagram. If you ever want some ONTD-flavored advice or a friendly ear, I'd love to help out - I'm coming up on 19 years of T1

I don’t want to make this awkward. I just I feel so much for you reading this. My son is just a little kid, he got his first somewhat visible medical device a few months ago, and I know that he already feels the way you do about it. And I hate that for both of you.

And know this is going to be a growing challenge for him, being different in this particular way, so I’m really hoping we can just create a lot of joy and wonder and humor in his life to counterbalance the shit that DOES. I wish that for you, too.

You are so kind! And I am so heartened by your experience with your therapist and really hope my son can have something similarly affirming and supportive and transformative. We gave up on the first counselor because my boy just wouldn’t open up - it was right after his diagnosis early this year and everything was just crazy and I didn’t want to push…But we need to give it another try ASAP, with another therapist, if necessary. Thank you for opening my eyes to that!!

We actually got my son in with a summer camp for kids (and counselors) with his diagnosis, and I think it was really really good for him. I am so glad that you’ve been able to connect with a community on Facebook - that hellsite isn’t all bad, I guess. :)

I was *just* looking at the Sydney Sweeney post and someone mentioned that she looks like Kate Moss’s daughter!! OMG they do look alike!! Especially in the eyes.

Aww good for her helping displaying her medical device. I saw that a few people were excited about a similar device showing up in the Turning Red trailer on one of the school children.

Is that a pump? Or blood sugar sensor? One of my coworkers has it the app tells him when he’s stressed and he’s like there’s always a correlation when the boss walks in lol

I think it's a pump, the sensor look more like buttons, at least the ones I've seen.

It’s a pump. Specifically, a tubeless patch pump. It is connected by Bluetooth to a small phone like controller which you use to set dosing and such. It’s called the Omnipod Dash

My mom uses a sensor for type 2 but it’s smaller, like the size of a quarter

At least they've started making these a lot smaller
