I can see why filmmakers were pissed about it but idc I like watching it on HBOMax while we're in a pandemic. Especially at the beginning at the pandemic before we had vaccines and when masks were our only protection.......I wasn't gonna go out because art~

Plus I remember thinking how less pissed and underwhelmed after watching WW1984.....I would've been PISSED leaving the theaters of the gas money and energy to go to the theaters lol.

Exact same! I still don’t feel comfortable going to the cinema and to be honest nothing has really been worth going for this year.
Movies like WW84 and Tenet were TERRIBLE and I would’ve been so depressed had I watched them at the cinema

OMG Tenet is another one I would've been pissed leaving the theaters lol!! At least at home I can be like "well that was a movie" instead.

No way, it was rushed??? lol

None of the options apply to me, really. I have HBO Max, and I watched a few new releases that way - Malignant, Reminiscence, The Suicide Squad. I definitely prefer a theatrical release, but I understand why day and date releases are great for most people right now, and I am glad they have been an option.

However, studios will not make films on the same scale as they have been if they're not getting box office money, so if you want more big budget shit, you really have to root for theaters to make it. So I think it makes sense to move away from day and date and just shorten up the exclusivity window - 45 days seems reasonable enough to me, but I'm not sure if that's working for theaters or not.

none of the options apply to me, either. I have my roommate's HBO Max and I enjoy it, especially since I don't pay for it lol

I said No in the poll just because of your second paragraph. Theaters will die out if this continues. I think the studios will have to look at giving a higher percentage of ticket sales to theaters if they’re going to do the 45 day.

One thing I hate about what HBO is doing is they only keep the movie available on the app for a month or so and then it disappears with no idea when it will be back.

I feel like I'm in the minority that I would rather watch movies in the comfort of my own home than go to the theater.

Same. I hate very aspect of the pandemic except this. The experience is so much better watching movies at home for me. I control the temperature, the volume, can turn captions on, eat whatever I want. Pause and go to the bathroom. It's luxurious lol.

It's honestly great to me! I don't even mind paying the $19.99 for the digital releases just to be able to watch it on my own terms.

I like HBO max but it needs to be faster to flip through. Netflix blows everyone out of the water when it comes to scrolling

I haven't watched most like 98% of the movie release because I'm not interested in them. I wouldnt have seen them in theater either. One movie I watched in theaters and not on HBO. I hate the argument that same day is keeping people from going to the movies. I like the option and they should keep same day.

That's what i dont understand. Netflix has been around for a hot minute, how are these streaming services failing so badly at their user interface?

They're being OTT in trying to be different - like Hulu's mess of an interface was definitely their designers trying to be clever and ~elevated~, instead of admitting that Netflix has figured it out and just copying their patterns (No shame in that.)

I work in software development and decidedly NOT in UI, but I'm like... are there copywrites on UI?? Otherwise I can figure out why every service is trying to be ~~creative instead of functional
