i don't know if she'll be convicted or not but i certainly hope so. the way they went after doctors and patients who spoke out is truly next level abhorrent.

I really don’t know how the abuse allegations will play out but it was obvious that they were going to turn against each other when the judge separated their trials.

The request for masks to be removed makes a lot of sense but that doesn’t mean that attempt to humanize (or empathize with) her will succeed. I think it’s unconscionable that the patients cannot talk about the emotional distress they faced because of those faulty results but legally wise it makes sense why the defense doesn’t want that in

As someone who wants to go into biomedical research, I’ve been become increasingly disillusioned because even though Theranos might be the most extreme example of the chase of prestige and money that ethics fly out the window under a guise of “helping patients” is something that permeates through research especially at what are considered prestigious universities.

I’ll be shocked if she’s acquitted but I’ll also be shocked if she’s convicted.

I think they might just convict her because they want to "set an example" but mostly because she's a woman and therefore disposable. Remember Martha Stewart being sent to jail when men around her did far worse?

no theranos post is complete without this

i think she'll be convicted but as far as jail time goes... who knows

her defense (i.e. that sunny was calling all the shots) is bullshit imo but their relationship WAS def creepy, they met when she was an 18yo and he was a thirtysomething, don't quote me on this but iirc it was when she was spending a summer in china after high school and was feeling lonely/isolated. men are gross.

Yeah she’s a lying scam artist but it doesn’t necessarily mean it wasn’t an abusive relationship.

technically yes but she really is a sociopath, she lies and manipulates everything.
