I wish we had a conversational late night talk show that would exclusively invite on older guests and have them talk about their experiences working in film, television, and music in the era they came up in. After reading and watching some Orson Welles interviews, and thinking about that recent Quincy Jones interview where he...said some things...I just feel like there's so much untapped information that would be really interesting to have on record, especially from a modern perspective looking back.

Melvin van Peebles has an incredible story - RIP.

I hope Criterion does a collection of his works in tribute.

There's something like that on TV One I believe, After Dark I think? They invite a lot of older black stars to do what you described.

There actually is a Criterion box set coming out with his works in a few weeks. It’s going to include Watermelon Man, Sweet Sweetback, Don’t Play Us Cheap and Story of a Three Day Pass.
