Edie plays the type of women that, image be damned, she would knock Bill out, take everything, and burn his world to the ground. Unfortunately, that's not Hilary.
After watching this last night I am very torn about how I feel about it. Sarah Paulson never stopped being Sarah Paulson but I also feel like I never got to see Linda. I know it's accurate, but between the bangs and hair and the dark glasses, it was like they were hiding Linda and I never got a real sense of her face and performance. And it is accurate to Linda but I felt like it put a wall between her and the audience
( ... )
I just googled this to see and Monica is said to be 5'6" and Beanie is said to be everything from 5'1" to 5'7" which is quite the difference. (5'4" comes up the most)
the media made paula seem like a dumb hick, so i liked seeing more about what was going on in her life besides getting harassed by clinton. I've read a few interviews with her, but still had no idea about how her husband reacted or his "career" annaleigh looked and sounds so much like her!
I'm going to say no. After the dems lost the house in the first midterms, Bill swung hard to the right and passed several bullshit bills in order to appeal to Middle America to secure his re-election. Stuff like the Crime Bill which was very racist and welfare reform which was also racist passed under him. He also focused heavily on deficit reduction at the expense of social programs. And then his second term was scandal after scandal.
He also was the person who repealed the Glass-Steagall act which is what gave banks the opportunity to create the financial crisis of 2008.
He did pass some good laws, made a few good international deals and put RBG on the bench but on a balance his presidency did more harm than good.
Yeah the Republican-lite policies of Clinton and the consequences they had for the social security net in the United States don't seem to get the criticism they truly deserve. The roots of a lot of the ideas behind them definitely came from Reagan/Bush, but he didn't hesitate to enact them because being cruel to poor people is so popular in America.
I agree with everything else you said and do not personally look back on the Clinton Administration favorably, but the Glass-Steagall Act had been legislated and de-regulated into near uselessness throughout the 80's--well before Clinton repealed it. By the time he got to it, it was really more ceremonial than anything else.
I thought Sarah did an excellent job as Linda Tripp. That woman was a petty monster who basically used a young girl's indiscretion and trusting nature for her own gain, and while people pointed that out back in the day I don't think they did it nearly enough. Vile ass woman.
Beanie is a delight in capturing the youth and naviete of Monica. Knowing what happens to her I just want to hug her and tell her not to tell Linda anything, lol. I also liked the actress who played Paula Jones. Overall, I give this a B+ will watch next week!
