Halsey's fourth studio album, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power, is currently on track to debut atop the Billboard 200 (barring interference from a certain disgraced rapper). In the meantime, it continues to receive rave reviews, and has officially become their most well-received project with a Metascore of 81 based on 13 critic reviews, up from its pre-release score of 77.

"With Reznor and Ross supporting such a weighty artistic vision, Halsey takes a huge leap forward with this course-changing opus, a revelation that finally presents their most authentic representation of self." ★★★★½ -Allmusic

"Direct and unbowed, [this] is Halsey at their most confrontational... A world of distortion and contradiction, blood and venom, If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power is a singular statement, one of extreme power." ★★★★ -Clash

Review: Halsey's new album matches future pop tendencies to crunching industrial production - unrelenting and dynamic, it's a confrontational listen...https://t.co/qCPFLpGB7y pic.twitter.com/w2ZO22fpOm

"Halsey's If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power is an album best served whole. Sure, it's packing some infectious, radio-ready choruses, but there is so much more to unpack, with each listen peeling back layers of heartache but also dexterity and adventure, and much-needed sense of danger that their peers are lacking. As Halsey moves into a new chapter in their own life, so too does their music. And we are here for it." ★★★★ -Kerrang!

"It's another case of 'beauty and the beast' making for an effective teaming. Only, with due respect to the artist's Renaissance-portrait-ready cover likeness, it's really they, Halsey, and not they, Reznor and Ross, who is the beast here. It's easy to imagine the producers cowering in the corner as a then-pregnant Halsey got her rage on in some of these songs." ★★★★½ -Variety
