I thought it was great and had no idea about the winky-ass fanboys until I stumbled on a thread on reddit. They're all 'oh, it's a bait and switch.' 'Oh, Kevin Smith lied to us.' 'Oh, it has a female lead.' 'Whiny-ass misogynistic fanboys trying to pretend they're angry about 'being lied to' when it's actually because the show focuses on female characters it's ignored for such a long time. The season is only half out and the second half could be all He-Man, all the time and they're still judging it. God. I hate straight men. I mean, I hate misogynists but really that Venn diagram overlaps a hell of a lot. Ugh. And they keep in their tiny-ass echo chambers, 'validating' each others' views in it and then go around review-bombing so, what, they can tell other people how much a cartoon made their tiny dicks shrivel up from their own perceived inadequacies and that theirs is really the 'right' opinion? Uuuuugh

Lol, same. I am so far out of the demographic for this and hadn’t paid any attention to it, but now I’m thinking I will check it out. I’m all for supporting media that makes men froth at the mouth.

You know I've found that while anything that primarily draws ire from women only is clearly bad things that have this effect on straight men are often FANTASTIC

That seems like a very interesting twist, especially the cliffhanger. I could see people being shocked at expecting he-man adventures and getting the opposite but something tells me that the whining is that the other protagonist is a woman instead is what really has them the most mad so CRY MOAR fanboys

I mainly thought I would like to watch it because the animation looks beautiful but tbh, as someone who knows only the very basics about He-Man, this sounds like a fresh and really interesting take. Might go watch a few episode right now.

Did the 2002 series ever draw this sort of ire?

The 2002 reboot was your average He-Man story where everyone stayed in their lane so I think fanboys were fine with it.
