my grandpa was diagnosed with alzhemiers 5 years ago and it's been really tough. wishing all my best to tony and his immediate family and close friends.

I'm so sorry. I watched my grandpa died slowly over the course of about 3 years from Alzheimers/Parkinsons/Dementia. It's fucking rough and its horrifying to watch the person you know and love become a shell of themselves. I hope you're okay. Please give your grandpa a hug for me because I wish I had given mine more.

Something about naming the concerts "One Last Time" on the birthday of a 95yo feels a little bit 💀

I mean, I'm pretty sure this is his last album so it's fitting.

yeah but like... to say it while he's still alive and probably doesn't even fully grasp what's going on

I just don't view it like this? Even if he didn't have Alzheimer's, the guy is in his mid-nineties. He wants to go out with a bang, so why not honor his wishes? He's been a workhorse for almost a century so it makes sense.

Prediction: One of the dates will be recorded for a TV special and will end up getting her an Emmy next.

which is why piggybacking off his legacy / degenerative brain status is so nasty... this is all for gaga and being framed as if it's for tony...

this is a gross way to be

What a weird, pathetically negative way to view this. They've been working together for over a decade now, and the love and respect they have for each other is clearly very genuine. Per Tony's wife, Tony made it clear before his public diagnosis that he wanted to put this album out as his last, and that Gaga has been nothing but supportive and respectful throughout this. Just because the guy has Alzheimer's, doesn't mean he can't still work and perform.

An interview with ABC (I think 20/20?) from 2012.

They were asking her about Lady Gaga and “Born This Way” sounding like Madonna’s “Express Yourself.”

Madonna said she thought the songs were similar and when pressed further said “it feels reductive.” The interviewer asked if that was good or bad and Madonna replied with that gif.
