I remember there being reports of her parents, especially her father, being very exploitative to get rich through her early on so I just read this statement as “we won’t actually deny anything because it’s all true we will just shut him up so the money truck keeps stopping by our bank for us”. Since I read those reports years ago I always saw stories about her scattered with Macaulay Culkin parent type vibes and tidbits like she’s just totally without the kind of support and guidance she deserves especially navigating creepy-ass Hollywood.

Yeah I remember reading an article years ago when she was talking about the pressure she felt when her family moved to America for her career and things didn’t take off for her right away, so she thought that she was all washed up or something. I wish there were more restrictions in place to prevent an entire family from planning to live off their child’s fame and money

It’s almost certainly true that they were in a relationship. It’s all very sad. That video was very, very disturbing…he seems unhinged. Like, he was acting like he was high on crack and I’m not saying that to be funny.

I imagine that there is a weird power dynamic at work when your child is the breadwinner, but I don't get letting your 15 year old CHILD move in with an 18 year old and doing nothing about it (unless she was emanicpated?).

Yep. The statement skirts around how this grown man had prolonged access to a child with the seeming approval of her parents and adults around her. I don't know if the general public is owed a public explanation but a very very serious crime is being alleged and there's so real assurance in this statement that MBB is safe.
