Black Widow finally arrived in theaters last night, with previews starting at 5PM. It earned $13.2M, a pandemic record, easily beating the previous pandemic record for F9 ($7.1M

i saw it last night, it was the most packed i've seen the movies in ages and i've been going weekly since lockdown lifted. it was nice to sit in a packed, excited theatre again lol.

as for my thoughts on the movie itself...hm. it was good enough, and florence pugh is amazing, but it honestly did feel really pointless with nat being dead now. it felt more like a movie that existed bc they felt they owed it to the character/scarjo than because it was in any way necessary or added anything, idk. the whole thing just made me even angrier natasha died instead of hawkeye in endgame too lmao, especially given that it felt at least implied in endgame that nat made the choice in part bc of his family. but she has one too? guess the mcu continues its tradition of denigrating familial dynamics that aren't hetero reproductive ones.

idk, it was fine, whatever. [Spoiler (click to open)]the post-credit scene got me slightly hyped though idk that i'm watching that hawkeye show unless florence pugh has a truly huge presence in it lmao. hope yelena kills him!

I haven’t seen it yet, I feel I’ll find it pointless as well. I actually didn’t mind Nat dying because I’m a sucker for the “grand sacrifice” tragic storyline (Endgame was the first time I cared about Nat and the first time, to me, she actually had a proper personality).
I think this was water under the bridge and they would’ve been better served giving us a new female-led movie (maybe even in addition to a Disney + Black Widow show)

it helped bring her story full circle so i wouldn't say it was pointless. the only thing it lacked really (aside from the post-credits scene) was pushing the MCU narrative forward.
