Despite producing 133 films between 2016 and early 2020, (more than any leading Hollywood studio), a recent research has suggested that consumers lose interest in Netflix films far faster than those made by major studios.

I am still a big fan of The Old Guard thank you very much. And I remember The Perfection because of how bad it was.

(Also I remember Bird Box.)

I love TOG too, but I feel like it's the fact that it has such an active fandom that keeps me thinking about it so much. Plus the new comics coming out regularly. Idk if the film on its own would still be so memorable a year later?

I kinda agree - it's faded into the background somewhat even with the active fandom. They need to hurry up with the sequel before it fades even more. Or at least a Nicky/Joe special movie LMAO.

Agreed! I don't know why it's taking them so long to announce the sequel tbh, it's been all but confirmed already by the actors and the directors.

Honestly I would watch an entire TV show of these idiots living through the different eras. Go on Netflix, do what you do best, give us too much content lmao

This makes sense to me. Theatre movies are universal in a way. As popular as Netflix is, a lot of people don't have it and so the movies have a much smaller public impact.

Netflix movies can reach more people imo, since a lot of films don't get distribution in other countries or it takes a long time.
The thing is though because it is up to the audience at home when to watch it, the public impact rarely comes with the release day like a theater movie.

I love the Eurovision movie. I'm not sure I've watched any other Netflix films, but I genuinely love that one.

I went into it not expecting much and it was my favorite movie of last year. We've watched it so many times.

Same! My bar was really low, but it ended up being such a fun love letter to ESC. I've put it on so many times when I just want to relax and decompress.

A 1000%. I've read articles about Will Ferrell's love for ESC and this was, like you said, a total love letter to it. He is a super fan! And I never would have gotten into ESC 2021 this year if it wasn't for this movie. I loved every second of it.

And that one stands out in my memory-- I think it was released during a holiday weekend? And EVERYONE watched it.

Imo the only one that will stand the test of time is Roma. That's an incredible film. I'm so glad I got to see it in the theater lol.

Even all the ones done by super talented directors just feel off to me. Like first draft movies. I know studio oversight can be terrible sometimes, but I'm wondering if a lot of these movies absolutely do need it.
