Not familiar with Sparks, but with all the positive reviews and Annette on the horizon, I'll probably go see that doc this weekend to brush up on their music. Likely the Rita Moreno doc, too, since they're both at AMCs nearby and I can use A-List. And Luca looks cute, so I might watch that if I'm in the mood.

Got great tickets for Black Widow in Dolby, and I'm looking forward to that. I've read a lot of reactions that mention Florence Pugh as a highlight, which is what I was hoping was the case.

In local theater news, it looks like AMC is acquiring the former Pacific Theaters in the LA area at The Grove and the Americana - they showed up briefly as AMC locations on the app a few days ago. Meanwhile, an article I read about that also speculated that Arclight Hollywood and the Cinerama Dome may reopen under its former management as a solo operation. All of this would be ideal for me as a moviegoer, but I guess we will wait and see.

i wanna see the Sparks doc but it's like 2 1/2 hrs long! i don't have that kinda time. and this looks super creative, but most documentaries can't hold my attention longer than an hour. i am ashamed of that fact, but it is true. i wanted to catch Holler at the indie theater but apparently it ends tonight and the weather has been too nice for a movie. so i'll probably just be watching Luca at home.

If you're interested in Sparks and the doc but want to wait to watch it until you're home to break up the time, you can still sort of "preview" the experience. Edgar Wright curated a list of essential Sparks songs on Spotify.

I rewatched y tu mamá también recently and it holds up soooo well but it was also kinda funny to see gringos commenting on it on a criterion post because the political aspects of it just flies by them. I've been on a Latino films kick and also watched an uruguayan one called whisky and loved it!

I'm thinking I'll try to watch petite maman this weekend. There's a semi decent t*rrent making the rounds 👀
