Love this concept! Two of my three pups are adopted and I don’t know what I would do without them! Sometimes I look at them and just can’t believe they were in a shelter for a whole year.
I think that about my dog, who was with a foster for six months before we adopted him. Like, even if he was on the street for a good reason (owners died, escaped, whatever), how did NO ONE adopt him for six months?? Offended on his behalf, lol.
My pup picked me at 4 months when he was being fostered by my neighbor. He ran out of their apartment, jumped in my lap and gave me wet willies, lol. Love at first sight. I talked to my partner and he went straight from our neighbors house to ours; he never went back to the shelter.
I got our cat as a young kitty from a classmate who found it trying to sleep in the exhaust pipe of her car one winter. She couldn't keep him and my cat had died two years prior to this so I told her to bring it over here, lol. Foster pups/strays have so much love to give.
All my pets are found/rescues so I love this already. I'll watch.
If you have HBOMax they have a great show on there where dogs and people pick each other to be best mates and get adopted at an agency in England. It's really good because they show ownership is a mutual process between the dog and the people; there were cases where the dog obviously did not like the people, or where the dog liked the people but for whatever reason the homing stage didn't work out.
