This makes me want to rewatch 24 Hour Party People again since I can't go.

I think I liked nearly everyone ever on that label. From Durutti Column all the way on through to Ride and especially Primal Scream.
I had a couple of New Order singles with Peter Saville packaging back in the early 80s and they got lost in a move and I'm STILL mad about it.

+1 wearing ear plugs. I never used to, but my bf really got me into wearing ear plugs because he has really sensitive hearing, and honestly, I do not miss the ringing in my ears after coming back from loud clubs. I heard the music perfectly fine because the music was just THAT loud.

that's exactly it! my hearing would always be messed up for a day after going to a bar. same with concerts. then after one concert, I think it was like that for a good 72 hours, which scared me straight. I don't even recall it going back to "normal" so part of me wonders if I just got used to it and now my ears are damaged.

the first time I wore earplugs, I actually took them out to make sure they were working because I could still hear lol. they didn't seem to make a difference but when I pulled them out on the subway ride home, whew my ears were okay!

Oh man, same here - I def had some concerts where I left and my hearing was messed up for at least a day or two afterwards. Terrible. It's sad that I was already thinking about preventative maintenance in my late 20s with regard to my hearing. My older family members really have a hard time sometimes with their hearing, so it makes me conscious of keeping my hearing when I'm younger!

Lol it's hard to get used to the ear plugs at first (at least for me), and then removing them, everything sounds so different and louder than normal and much clearer, but I'm glad I started using them!

Does anyone have recommendations for sleeping earplugs? Looking to upgrade from the cheap orange foam ones...

I bought some silicone ones off eBay which you can wash and reuse. I’ve had the same pair for over a year now and they’re really good. You might need to trim the stem(?) (the bit that comes out of your ear), because they’re quite long but mostly they’re comfortable.
