I am really liking this season, and hope to get more of Rita and Canada. I'm imagining soooo much infuriating conflict between a very traumatized June, and all the people who have been living in Canada. I get the feeling she's only going to acknowledge one form of activism (violence/impulsive decisions), and be absolutely shitty toward the people caring for refugees, despite that being equally important

I'm going to be so pissed if Janine is captured or dead.

There was a shot in the trailer of the Waterfords walking out of a building to praising fans so part of me wonders if they trade them for Hannah. That would be dumb though. There's still a war that needs to be won and other women/children who need to be freed.

I can imagine a deal being made: we don't take aggressive actions towards Canada if you ease up on sanctions, send us the Waterfords, and return children born in Gilead. Canada wants to avoid war, and Gilead could argue that Canada has no legal right to keep children who were taken from their birth parents. Gilead is totally going to "both sides" this, despite it being a rape, torture, murder cult. US citizens will put pressure on Canada to send back Gilead kids so they won't have to worry about Gilead coming for their kids.

I'm thinking about the Hannah/Nicole trade, and Gilead could want to trade because getting back "kidnapped baby Nicole" would be a huge victory for Gilead. They may tell her that they'll give her to Nick, but I dunno. June could want to, but Luke has for sure bonded with this baby, and neither would want a little girl raised in Gilead. The urgency of getting Hannah out to avoid being another Mrs. Keyes has to be incredibly stressful though.

Based on the promos and pictures it looks like she does end up going to Canada (I mean we see her in the trailers confronting Mrs. Waterford) and god I fucking hope so. I cannot deal with anymore torture bullshit/her being captured again. It's like a broken record at this point.

[Spoiler (click to open)]Until I see a body I refuse to believe she is dead. I want her alive, I want her to get out too, have her see Emily again and heal in Canada. If they hadn't made Steven creepy I would've even liked to see her get out with him and find a happy life outside of Gilead.
They better not let her somehow be captured again and be returned to Aunt Lydias "care".

I feel like they have really fucked up with the Nick character by wanting to stretch out his whole "mysterious" thing for soooo long. I was very intrigued by him my first go round watching the show and the little snippet we got of his background but now they've stretched out this "split loyalty" thing too long and I just don't care as much as a viewer. Apparently there were some more scenes of his that were cut (probably for more lingering shots on Elizabeth Moss's face!) for season 3 that fleshed out a lot of his story.

Yeah he really lost me when I thought he was helping her escape again but it was just a little stop and smooch and he was totally just letting her be sent to the Magdalene colony. WTF good are you dude??

That got me too! I don't "ship" June with anyone, this is primarily a show about trauma, but I was into their relationship as a source of support and love in this terrible environment and even so, the kiss on the bridge was like ???? Like he was kissing her in full view of the guards, how does he know they aren't Eyes and reporting on his actions? They just have not explained exactly what kind and how much power Nick has in Gilead, so it just all makes no sense.

Yeah I was so fucking confused by that. Like clearly he has people on his side? It should've been easy to get her and the other handmaids somewhere safe. It was just ONE guard and Aunt Lydia in that van ffs!
