Billie Eilish delivered a, well, powerful performance of her new single "Your Power" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday. Recorded in a desert setting similar to that featured in the song's music video, Eilish was joined by brother and frequent collaborator Finneas O'Connell on guitar.

"Your Power" also debuted at number 10 on the ( Read more... )

I listened to Bad Guy for the first time recently and was shocked to learn that it was her song. I knew the song from the trailer of that Fox News movie and what they used is literally the best part of the song. Her vocals/lyrics gave me nothing but I think I’m too old to get her appeal.

I think it's a lovely song and message but i'm frustraged that she's dating someone so old while seeming to understand the imbalance of power? idk it just makes me sad.

while its completely possible that they're dating there is only that one photo of her giving him a side hug and a strung together article from the daily mail. it's not exactly concrete evidence.

I know, but there's speculation that he is, which is fine and not the point. and I fully realize that she is an adult and can make her own decisions. i'm not even one of ontd's age police, there were just some things she said in her vogue article that hit me a certain way regarding how she thinks she has reached a point of maturity that she probably hasn't. I also feel a certain protective way knowing a very young abused family member of mine is listening to every word that comes out of her mouth, and watching every move she makes. it's not even a pearl clutch. it really just makes me feel sad.

we all feel like we know so much at whatever age we are. it's only in hindsight that we can really know whether we were right or not. she seems to have clarity on her past relationship. I hope she has clarity on her current or future ones, too. i'm not shaming her. I feel for a younger me, I feel for the future younger her, I feel for all victims of abuse. I wish her well and I really love the song.

The friends I have the most insightful & rich discussions with, on feminism, empowerment and women issues in general, also happen to be the same ones who keep dating shitty men. Very do as I say, not as I do. Having knowledge of something and being emotionally smart to put it in practice are two different things, especially when you're as young as Billie. I agree, it is sad.

beautiful song & performance. i know ontd has its issues with the pop landscape at the moment pero i’m enjoying getting to see young female pop stars like her & olivia rodrigo get success and acclaim for these kinds of vulnerable, personal tracks rather than having to churn out bop after bop to get streams and radio play. seems like the gp and the award-giving elites alike are interested in everything billie puts out which gives her room to experiment and try new things without fear of flopping. really excited to hear the sounds on the album, especially whichever single she chooses to drop with its release.

Her voice is pleasant, very emo hipster girl, but it doesn't sound fake like Halsey's for example.

That outfit is giving me major zookeeper energy.

that post upset me ngl. i recognize maybe some people didn’t listen to the lyrics closely but even then the imagery of the mv was so intense and upsetting it really should have clued folks in that memes and laughs weren’t the most appropriate of responses.

people not liking the song is fine, obviously, but it was jarring to go from the distressing visuals and triggering lyrics of the song/mv to so many lighthearted dismissive comments bc you can’t shake your ass to it lmao. i wish i had framed that post differently. but anyway, thank you for this comment, i was kind of triggered by the whole thing and it’s validating to see other people felt similarly bc i thought maybe i was being too sensitive.

i'm so sorry that you were affected by the post that way. it has nothing to do with how you framed it, people will reach into the depths of themselves to find shitty things to say no matter how easy it seems to you or me to read the room.
