my heart is breaking too but probably not for the same reasons

israel is a settler-colonialist state and i don't know how anyone who has witnessed the shrinking of palestinian land over the last 70 years can disagree.

I wrote this in the other post so I’ll say it again here, and preface it by saying that I, a Jew, do not agree or cosign or do anything other than condemn Netanyahu’s government ( ... )

I agree with you that the Jewish people have a claim, not the only claim but a claim, to the land. However, some Jewish people definitely act like colonizers. There are Palestinians who were born and raised there that have lost their home to Jewish people from Europe/US. Literally a Jewish person from the US can just show up to your doorstep in Palestine and have a better claim to your home even though their family has been in the US for multiple generations. It’s insane.

I think you said this well. The Right of Return, in my opinion, treats Israel like it an empty land. It reminds me of grants giving to Europeans to settle on land in the Americas once the native population had been killed or removed. Israel may be the spiritual homeland, but I dont know if it's accurate to say Jews in diaspora are indigenous to the Levant after hundreds or even thousands of years of absence. Or if they are, that the fact justifies a claim to the land ( ... )

This is actually somewhat more both-sidesy than I expected from her.

Yeah, I suspect much if not all of that is due to the reaction she’s gotten in the past when she’s commented but maybe, just maybe, she’s got a bit of humanity that has been touched by the living NIGHTMARE that’s back in the news?

fsr i don't see it that way, she locked the post and can't even say Palestine or Palestinians. maybe i'm reading into it too much but it seems like a blatant form of a microaggression to minimize the Palestinians as much as possible by only mentioning them vaguely af.

I mean, I think it's both sidesy for her. It's clear that she's trying to avoid getting yelled at (hence turning off comments) and is probably not stating her full opinion. I'm not giving her points for it, I just think it's telling that she'd make such a PR-ish statement about something so allegedly personal. Celebs gonna celeb first and foremost.

I don't pray for your leaders. Has she seen what's happening??? It's utterly inhumane how they treat Palestinians. It's disgusting. I hope they burn in hell. A vicious cycle that the israeli state is perpetuating. Those poor children

Living side by side in peace isn't going to happen when one side is using force to subjugate the other side and not give them any rights.
