I read the script way back when and went "Ok this clearly isn't my thing." and just like...fast forwarded through most of it. Tatiana was the only one bringing any kind of energy.

The main thing I remember about that movie is how they spend a bunch of time having everybody whisper about the villain like he's a charismatic Charles Manson type, and then he shows up and he's just some dude.

Statham has the kind of onscreen magnetic charisma that makes a movie star and is totally required if that star's acting ability is at sentient block of concrete level. Only Vin Diesel is worst. I did like him in "Spy". That was really good use of him and in his range.

"in a relaxed start to Summer Movie Season."

lol, that's definitely one way to put it! next weekend probably won't be much better, either, but idk how many Saw heads are out there - maybe they'll save the May box office before AQPII swoops in.

We went to see Mainstream last night - only a handful of other people in the theater, so I'd guess the weekend box office for that one is gonna be like $2k total, but I enjoyed it! It didn't delve as deeply into the idea of viral popularity as I would have hoped, but it was entertaining, and Andrew Garfield really fucking went for it.

Did Maddie from euphoria (aka alexa demie) have a big role in mainstream? The preview made it seem like she had like one scene lol

it was exactly one scene!! lol. maybe 5 total minutes of screen time, if that - definitely not worth watching just for her.

I am watching that too! I was like wow some of them clearly have no idea and I was wondering what they must be guessing with the hint about him being in showbiz for 25+ years or whatever it was.
