My mom is so pissed, lol. Theo James is her "boyfriend" and she's sad he's betrayed her like this.

I'm absolutely reading too much into this, but I get so tired of men who are openly dismissive of entertainment geared primarily toward women.

The whole "the ending was unique" thing is like... yeah, it didn't have a traditional happy ending, and most people agreed that it kind of spoiled the show.

I didn't watch it (which is strange because I watch just about every series on PBS) but my mom loved it and was sad to hear it wasn't getting another season. She was happy to hear yesterday that it was renewed but was disappointed that Theo wasn't returning. He should have said something about how he would have loved to come back but his schedule didn't allow for it, or something. (I'm assuming that's what it was anyway.) Don't give a bullshit ~the ending was untraditional and it should be the end of the story~ excuse. It comes off as an insult. Or maybe he truly didn't want to do the show anymore. It really sucks for all of the fans who campaigned to get it renewed.

Yeah I'm mostly just surprised that he's in a position to turn down work.

I feel bad for the fans who campaigned for months for this. I don't love fan campaigns in general but I can't imagine anyone's happy now.

I don't, they were beyond obnoxious. They would take over tweets that were not about Sanditon and bombard PBS and other accounts when they were trying to tweet about Poldark or whatever.

They would tweet at Hulu and lots of different places that had nothing to do with Sanditon. This is perfect justice if you ask me. It wasn't people who loved the plot or the show, they just wanted more Theo James in fancy period outfits.

agreed! on one hand, I'm kind of sad that we won't get to see his redemption, but on the other hand, I want someone better for Charlotte. The architecture guy was like 10 times more considerate to her anyways ugh

Yes! My friend and I watched it the entire season rooting for architecture boy, even though we knew she wasn't going to pick him. Sanditon was like the embodiment of dudes who hear the plot of Pride and Prejudice and think its message is that women only go for rich assholes.
