I know that Joe Taslim signed up for 4 MK sequels already but has it been greenlit yet?

I like him! I'd only seen him in the Raid, and he's so memorable so I was really excited to see him in MK. Hopefully there will be more MK to come.

Ooof, they both dropped SO HARD this weekend. I know Mortal Kombat had pretty shit reviews and I'm sure that's part of it, and HBO Max having it may be another part. And anime films are always front-loaded, so the drop makes sense for Demon Slayer, but still kind of wild it beat out MK! It wasn't even eligible for A-List.

A little surprised Separation didn't do better - horror audiences can be pretty dedicated - but it did look terrible, so I guess that tracks.

I thought Scott Pilgrim might get close to a million, but it fell way short of that. Still, #8 for an 11 year old movie in 152 theaters is pretty good, and I suppose it could get a million by the end of the week.

Our home & theater watches so far this weekend: General Magic, Shiva Baby, Scott Pilgrim, and The Last Blockbuster. TLB was a pretty amateurish doc, tbh, but as a former Blockbuster employee, it was nice to take a trip down memory lane. Hope the last one can hold on.

Tonight, we're planning to go see Golden Arm. It's easy to go to AMC bc of A-List, but I want to ( ... )

Mortal Kombat got mediocre reviews, not great nor awful. Ive seen people split down the middle on it. All things considered, 66mil worldwide against a 55mil budget after a week during a pandemic isn’t bad so I can’t see why they wouldn’t follow through with a sequel.

Oh yeah, I can definitely see them making a sequel. It's relatively cheap for an action movie, and studios want franchises more than anything.

I'm still on my The Americans binge but I told my sister today to watch Sound of Metal since it's now available on Prime here.
