Lucie Arnaz, Lucy and Desi Arnaz's daughter, addressed this topic in two posts from her official facebook page.

I haven't seen these episodes. Literally no one will compare to Lucille Ball. It's just hard to watch because I've seen these episodes sooooooo many times and all I can see was how she isn't Lucy. Something about her inflections/voice are way off to me, but she was ok I guess lol

Yup, agreed. I have watched I Love Lucy episodes a million times and I wasn't impressed by Debra Messing. It felt too over the top like you can tell this is Debra Messing trying to be Lucy Ricardo.

I love Our Nicole but like...lmao I can’t see how she’s going to pull the slapstick stuff off soz Nic.

Guess we'll see, I do think physical resemblance isn't as important if the person can get the mannerisms down, and I do think Messing might have been a bit too caricature-ish. I don't have any kind of nostalgic attachment to this show or the people though.

My problem with Nicole is that she always looks like a caricature of herself. The work to her face is very distracting

I agree. It was hard to watch her in the undoing for me, tbh. Her face just looks so off and tight and puffy, and for someone heralded as this phenomenal actress, she can no longer emote. She just makes her eyes wide and watery and quivers her lip
