That's how it's supposed to be and she wasn't even as creepy as the book where she has golden eyes.

I was reading a review of the unsurprisingly shitty British TV series from some decades ago when everyone except Bastian was grown (so they can shoehorn in a romantic plot with Atreyu and someone named Fly Girl natch). The reviewer was mad that the Childlike Empress was an adult, but I though that, in the hands of a more competent production, it could be cool. She's childlike, after all, not a child.
