i know this is bait, but i'm gonna bite: i feel like increasingly there's a cooption of the 'sex work is work' discourse that's nothing but yet another symptom of capitalism that commodifies everything & everyone. 'sex work is work' was primarily created to protect vulnerable sex workers - aka those who for several different reasons have to resort to it & are marginalized, victimized & stigmatized - to fight for basic rights & protection. that the slogan was coopted by hobbyists who adopt OF type work as a trendy lifestyle choice is perverse & sad & basically ~late capitalism.
