i actually think jonah has faced a ton of public bullying about gaining and losing weight repeatedly that has largely been uncriticized and allowed. people seem to think it was fine to do to him, for the most part. he definitely doesn't face the same systematic pressure to be thin that women do but i think people are generally less sympathetic to men when they experience bodyshaming because it happens less.

also i mean, he's saying he couldn't even take his shirt off while swimming for most of his life so i imagine he probably has cried at what people have said to him.
