it was fine but had such a week copout as to why all the rest of the side characters and their stories were cut. like the ENTIRE show's just about the WB siblings and pinky and the brain? it got repetitive

Probably testing the waters for viability/sticking to budget. Less characters = less animation rigs to build, less voice actors to pay, less stories to write, etc.

The first season needed more of the other characters, like Chicken Boo and the Goodfeathers. Do small segments, like Wheel of Morality.

Just having each episode be the Warners, Pinky & The Brain and then a song got old.

I enjoyed some of the Animaniacs skits, but never liked Pinky and the Brain enough to watch those. t ended up making it like a 16 min watch, which was nice, lol
