is this from 2002? edgy -- but obviously, telling a band they're a 'bar band', however true it may be (love a cover band by the beach), does not make for good tv or the story AI is selling.

i don't think idol or the voice has produced a real star in over 10 years. it's all execs and celebs patting themselves on the back.

I feel like the voice is what really pushed these shows into JUST being about the judges

I don’t watch these shows . I watched Idol during the very early seasons but it’s not my thing it had to be around season seven.

Other reality singing competitions sure but AI is probably one of the most successful cases.

Kelly, Fantasia, and Carrie have been some of most successful winners.

And even some of the non-winners went to have careers.

I was going to say Jackie Evancho but I looked it up and she came in second to some white guy with a guitar that I've never heard of. It's crazy how every show but Idol can't figure out a way to market their winners to some low level of success.
