The backlash is late but 100% justified (and TBH, he deserves more backlash than this).

I'm glad people got it- it was deliberate :).

I hope Justin realizes what goes around comes around.

I was relatively young when JT was coming up in his solo career, but between his Cry Me A River video and the way he acted on Punk'd should've been a clear signal to everyone that he was a fucking loser.

Wesley's commentary really dovetails nicely with his podcast episode on Janet Jackson: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/02/podcasts/still-processing-were-still-here-for-janet.html

Fuck Justin Timberlake and the system that let someone doing a half-baked Michael Jackson/Prince impersonation with extra misogyny flourish

the system will always elevate the less talented white imitation version over genuine black talent.

Wesley is SO smart at contextualizing pop culture. I love him. I wish my brain worked that well.

Fuck Justin.

I still maintain to this day that JC should’ve been the one to make it after NSYNC.

My hot take is that NSync were of their time and that none of them deserved long-term fame. The Backstreet Boys had better vocals (and more classic songs).

I remember Nick Carter & Justin were both doing the solo thing at the same time and Nick was hyped to be the big thing. His album pretty much flopped. I still listen to the odd song from it now and again.

I was a hugeeee BSB fan and casually liked *NSYNC I don’t even think I remember Nick having a solo career but even tween me knew those two were less deserving of a solo career. I never understood how JC didn’t get pushed into having a great solo. His vocals were miles ahead of Justin
