This was just a shitty thing of Krista to do. They needed a scapegoat for Alex's exit and used Izzie. And now the entire fandom blames her, even tho Alex is a grown-ass man who chose to his leave his wife.

I've always hated Alex and he and Jo had no chemistry, so I don't care that they're over. But they should have killed him. If they were not going to bring back Izzie, then they shouldn't have used her character.

it was honestly a lose-lose situation for her. I know a lot of people said that she should have just killed Alex off, but then people would be mad that they killed such a long running character offscreen.

They killed George, Lexie, Mark, and Derek. The latter was on the show for 11 seasons, and half of the main couple. It made no sense for them not to use the death card with Alex. I guess they wanted the audience to keep hating on Izzie.

Like I said, the difference was the "offscreen" part.

I think that Justin Chambers needed to be out quite urgently, so they had to be quick. But this ending was so sloppy, so out of character for Alex, it really sucked and did the character dirty. And why Izzy, she was long gone and noone needed that.

TV was so fun back then. When The OC was hot too!

She’s not wrong! I hate that this was his exit. It was out of character completely. They couldn’t have another widow because Jo is Grey’s mentee and....too similar? idk, idgi

it was SO dumb.

i've been rewatching from the beginning bc it's easy to zone out in the background while i work, and they have the stupidest ways of getting rid of characters. either it's completely out of character or they're dead, nothing in between. couldn't alex have simply gotten a job somewhere else? isn't that common for residents?

Alex is an attendant. he was chief of pediatrics at Greys-Sloan before he was fired, and then became the chief of surgery of another hospital in Seattle
And the thing was that they had to write him off in a way that would keep Jo on the show, because have Jo move with him and Camilla having to leave too wouldn't be fair to her

having it be Jo's decision to give those kids "the life she and Alex never had" would've culminated her arc about abandonment and trust issues. let her be the one who decides she can't stay on a farm and raise someone else's kids no matter how much she loves Alex and that she won't take those kid's father away from them after how her and Alex were raised. and let her be able to do that because of how strong Alex's support has made her. let her have her own vision of her life that doesn't include what alex has now realized he wants because he didn't know about it before.

it isn't totally out of left field for Izzie to have Alex's kids, what's out of left field is for him to literally leave his wife with a letter. he at least would've called her.
