This looks really boring

Why did people love the original? I played it through once and it's so... unexciting.

My first switch game was Pokemon Shield, then I played Breath of the Wild and I can't go back to Pokemon. I think I really only like open world games, even though I love Pokemon.

Also I don't know anyone else with it so can't really battle/trade so that takes a lot out of it.

As a hardcore fan of Pokémon Snap, I’ll bite:

Pokémon Snap was one of* the first mass-market games that was centered around photography. I loved going through the levels and getting all the Pikachu poses, timing certain shots for maximum drama/effect, all that. And what made it extra cool back then was that you could take your cart to a Blockbuster (US, don’t know about who carried it internationally) and put it into a kiosk and print out your favorite photos onto sticker sheets. I had the chance to buy one of those units for $25 once but that price was too steep for my broke ass in 2003.

Yeah, the game is on rails and feels really procedural now, but it holds a very dear place in my heart and I’m so happy to finally have the release date, since I’m trash and preordered it back in July.

* I want to say it was the first, but my memory’s failing me right now

When it came out, Pokemon fever was in full effect! I was eating it all up! Red/Blue, the cards, pokemon stadium, etc. When Snap came out, it was just another take on the series and for me, it had tons of replay value. My siblings and I would compete to get the most points for a picture and it was all around a good time.

It was my "chill" game as a kid
Like no angry throwing the controller after dying in a boss battle or getting mad losing in Mario Kart (maybe i was just an angry kid lol)

It was just pure, relaxing fun with cute Pokemon doing silly things

oh damn, this looks amazing.

seeing the open-world concept makes me sad because it's exactly what the main games need in order to feel updated and reinvented.

I mean, I woukd be shocked if this was 'open world.' The original game's thing was you were on an ever moving shuttle that you could only kind of control and had to snap your photos quickly because you dont stop moving. I'm assuming it will be the same for this game.
