My 2 cents is that the social media companies saw the writing on the wall. They think that if they half ass some sort of response now, it will exclude them from the rebirth of the Fairness Doctrine. They can say, "SEE?! A free and open internet regulated itself!" and they can use that argument against being lumped in. I think that eventually, and it may not be this year or next, but within the next 5-10 years, the internet will have a governing body like the FCC. Trump proves that the internet with all its wonders and benefits can be just as damaging as it is amazing.
Twitter is a company, they can remove people from their website if they want to. That doesn’t mean his free speech is being taken away. He could hold a press conference or talk to reporters etc. if he wants to.
Exactly. He has a press office. He can say he’s going to make a statement and every form of media will be there. He’s just mad that he can’t unilaterally make proclamations via twitter
His Twitter incites violence. Can celebrities stop using this as a moment to act like we’re all at risk of being banned? Do some research on people being banned for nothing and use those examples if you want to open your mouth
