Miley's dog, Mary Jane, has passed away from cancer. Miley adopted the dog as a rescue with her now-exhusband Liam Hemsworth in 2012.

pet deaths fuck me up so hard. they don't live long enough :(

i honestly thought i would be one of those ppl who would never get a pet ever again after the death of my last one, but knowing how important it is to rescue animals completely overshadows all of that potential pain.

my cat has really intense bursts of energy and hates when i'm asleep while she's awake and she has been brought back to the shelter so many times for her personality (lowkey happy ab it, they don't deserve this queen). it's wildly fucking important to adopt from shelters tbh and i've always admired that miley rescues and doesn't get rid of her animals if they are too much work (afaik)

life is but a cycle of forgetting how much it hurts when pets die, getting new pets, and then getting hurt all over again. my snake died last week and i was DEVASTATED but i adopted another one yesterday to mitigate the pain and it's actually helping me process things. i am keeping more emotional distance tho bc i got very attached to the last one and i see that was a mistake

Her tribute to her dog is really beautiful. I was heartbroken by the untimely death of my dog two years ago. It is extra painful for all the reasons she described. The love an animal shares is so pure and uncomplicated. It is excruciating to lose them.

i'm so sorry bb :( me too. every day there's something that will suddenly hit me and remind me that he is no longer here. i keep coming home and expecting him to be there all happy and wiggly. it's the worst pain. i'm so sorry you're having to experience too.

i used to be a big fan of her dead petz album but listening to it a few years later i'm like oh this is actually super corny and not a good representation of relationships but the songs about her actual pets (as opposed to the songs about liam) r quite beautiful.
