Daisy Ridley covers Tatler.

She reveals that she's been told that she is intimidating:

“That was on Chaos Walking. I was having my hair done, having my wig put on. I remember thinking, ‘God, should I be smaller? Should I be quieter?’”

Chaos Walking, a sci-fi fantasy adventure film directed by Doug Liman

Ugh. Or "bossy." or "demanding." or "controlling."

If she’s intimidating, it’s an issue she needs to fix. If you are intimidated, that’s a personal issue you need to fix, not her.

I think it’s just a helpful reframing for people, like a woman doesn’t need to change her behavior to make others more comfortable, when being uncomfortable with a woman is their problem they need to work on.

Men will call literally any woman who isn't simpering and submissive aggressive.

Terms like aggressive and intimidating are so loaded and are often bandied about so carelessly. It can really do a lot of damage to have those terms applied to you without reason.

I was just reading about a Black female doctor who died of Covid in the States and recorded a video complaining of her care before she passed. In response some senior level admin at the hospital blamed her saying that she was "intimidating" to staff. She was dying ffs. People really need to understand the power of their words.
