I’m not sold on the direction this season has taken in the past couple episodes, which sucks because this season was really starting to find its footing. It’s starting to feel a bit like the tail end of Picard S1 - focusing on characters in a way that feels unearned, all while great characters are sidelined. I don’t mind Tilly in general, but Saru could have put anyone else from the bridge crew as acting first officer. Owosekun as Number One would have been interesting.

It also makes zero sense. She's the lowest ranking officer giving orders to higher ranking officers. That's not how it works and no amount of convoluted explanation from Saru can explain it away. He'd have had to pick between one of the Lt. Commanders.

So much happened in this episode, I might have to rewatch. They better not kick my doctor again though!

The planet team was pretty sexy? I'm so confused.

Everyone switching alien races was very fun.

I really wish I could care about Adira and their storyline but...I don't. Having Stamets as their constant scene partner isn't really endearing them to me. In a perfect world this storyline would've been a mutli seasonal one that resulted in the death of Gray so I could grow an attachment to them.

Yeah, I’m hoping they give Adira more to work with in general. They started off with such an interesting premise, but I feel like their Trill identity has been completely pushed aside for the whole Grey mystery. I actually felt more sympathy for Grey when he spoke of being disconnected from the symbiont and how that affected him than anything else.

It also didn’t make any sense for Stamets to try and stop Culber from going on the away mission because he had to consider how that would affect Adira? I was perfectly fine with the abrasive thing Stamets had with Reno, so trying to make him softer by making him a father figure isn’t working for me.

Happy holidays OP! <3

This was always going to be the episode that followed The Episode, so my mind and heart isn't fully in it because I'm still recovering. I have to do a rewatch later.

It was fun to see them change alien species(?) when they went down. Michael is so empathic and intelligent, ugh, she's perfect for missions like that.
