Cool, but does he also tell his rapist friend to fuck off? I'm so over people painting this dude as God's gift to earth just bc he seems to be minimally decent. Straight white men always getting praised for doing the least.

“Our country is going through a hard time. It’s been going through this. I’ve been hearing about this in rap music for 30 years. "

I - I am different memes in reply to this quote. Is this street cred? Need for a pat on the back for listening to rap? Showcase of all his black friends?

Our country is going through a hard time. It’s been going through this. I’ve been hearing about this in rap music for 30 years. We’ve been told if we wanted to listen. It’s been happening.

So why sign on to a copaganda show? disclaimer: I enjoyed the first few seasons of B99 so I'm not going to act like I'm not a clown myself but like. this whole answer of his is pretty BS.

I mean, you said yourself you liked B99 for the first few seasons, why do we assume that these actors who aren't paid for their critical thinking skills would think B99 was anything other than just a nice, feel-good little show?

I think most actors don't think twice about the shit they're signing on as long as it gives them a nice fat check, and Andy for sure is the one getting paid the most.

Yeah, I didn't express myself very well but it's more about his response. I know there's kind of no right answer for any of the actors, but if he's trying to position himself as someone who's "been listening" and been aware of the issues of police brutality and systemic racism "for 30 years", then a bit of reflection into why he was ok signing on to the show (e.g. touching on the insidious appeal of the "feel-good buddy comedy about a group of Good Cops™" model and how that feeds the "a few bad apples" myth) wouldn't go awry. Otoh as you said the unspoken answer in large part is $$$ and he's not gonna just come out and say that, so dodging the issue with some platitudes about how the show is gonna try to "further the conversation" makes sense

I'm sure once the show is officially over he'll come out with some bullshit statement about how time has made him ~reavaluate things.
