Also, by the way, this will NOT impact the production of the podcast. We still have complete creative control of that, and we plan to keep making everything weird and confrontational and vaguely alienating.

So far I only listened to season 1 of Archive 81. It's pretty cool! Nice to have on while doing the dishes.

I am really into The Magnus Archives though. I listen to them every night before bed, preferably the first 100 or so episodes.

There is one episode where the narrator screams really loudly and that has woken me up several times, I really hate that episode, lol.

I find it kind of difficult to imagine Archive 81 or The Magnus Archives as a show though. A lot of the concept of the podcasts is about them being tapes, no? Hard to imagine them otherwise.

Do you listen to podcasts when you go to bed? I do the same and I've been woken up many times with loud noises or screams, it's pretty annoying. The worst offender is the weather segment of Welcome to Nightvale.

I used to listen to all my narrative podcasts before sleeping but then stopped because I hated backtracking to relisten to important story stuff. That and it soon became a bad idea to listen to horror podcasts before sleeping, ha.

I listen to the Sleep With Me podcast, and it works for me. It's also the perfect white noise podcast lol. Though if you can't stand the host's monosyllabic voice then it'll have the opposite effect.

I used to listen to Sleep With Me but his voice was pretty annoying. I like Sleepy, the host has a nice voice and her stories are soothing. I also listen to Lore because it has nice background music and I don't care if I miss the story, but a lot of people find the host annoying.

Mamoudou was great in a movie I just watched on Prime I think. Phalicia Rashad was in it. And of course I can’t remember the name now. 😩. I’m here for this!

At least you remembered the people in it because Google tells me it's called Black Box!

My ass is still waiting on a Black Tapes or Tanis tv show adaption. Faerie would be a good one to adapt too. But I’m interested. There’s a lot of really good podcasts out there that would be great as movies. I think the old gods of Appalachia would make a good one. That story is told so good.

There were elements of Black Tapes that made me drop it and then I heard how it ended, and I had to laugh. But there is a good seed in there so maybe if it's a loose adaptation, lol. There really is a lot of potential in all of the horror podcasts out there.

I remember enjoying Rabbits, but the rest of the podcast from that network are pretty bad, I had to drop Tanis because it wasn't going anywhere.

It really doesn’t go anywhere. Tho I haven’t finished the latest season. But it has gotten me through hours of work, so.

I don't think it's super scary, but there are definitely eerie/unsettling moments, and the overall theme is that of "there's something very wrong". Like I'd listen at night when I was by myself and then reconsider my life choices.

But then the voice acting might pull you out since it's a mixed bag

So, it's billed as a horror show but honestly I think it's more "supernatural weirdness". There's a lot of body horror mentioned/described and some gross sound effects but it's not as profoundly as upsetting as, say, The Magnus Archives. The show gets dark at times, has some violence and deals with unsettling themes but there's also moments of wonder and goodness as well. If you're particularly triggered by discussions of free will or the idea that free will doesn't exist in some fashion that comes up from time to time in passing and might be unsettling. Also if you're sensitive to characters having their agency stripped from them, there's a character in season 2 who might be upsetting as well.

Source: Me, a big weenie who had to stop listening to The Magnus Archives because it made my anxiety so bad, but did finish all of Archive 81.

Anyway, I recommend it! I found the voice acting to be very good and the story to be enjoyable. The 3rd season is an absolute blast

I'm still sad about Ratty :(

I've listened to the first season twice, but I keep sliding off the second season. I do intend to pick it back up though!
