Aww. I used love Soul Train on a Sunday afternoon. I just hated how they would have everyone lip sync. I still think Wild Orchid (Fergie’s first band before the drugs etc fucked up her voice ) was the only white group I saw on there. 😂

There was a period of 3 years where they opened for everyone. I knew if I was seeing nsync or Britney or anyone poppy it was going to be them opening.

I wish there was a comprehensive list of who Soul Train let sing live (after they started making almost everyone lipsync). Here's Mariah Carey singing Emotions live, for example. I believe this, like her Unplugged appearance, was done to "prove" she was a "real" singer:
