i just saw that on the news and was like wtf thats still a thing in 2020.also i used to watch these shows in reruns on sat afternoon over at my grandparents house back in the 80s.
Girl you are taking me BACK IN TIME today! I can't believe I forgot about Hee Haw in my Soul Train comment... We used to watch that religiously even though we are NOT a country music family. I loved the corny jokes as a kid.
Do you know about (or remember) the Mandrell Sisters Show? It was around the same time and had musical guests too, as well as sparkly sequined outfits and big hair and music and funny skits. They always had coordinated outfits and heavy makeup; I thought the sisters were so glamorous.
"Each week, a well-established country star (e.g., Dolly Parton, Larry Gatlin, Charley Pride, the Statler Brothers and Marty Robbins) and an up-and-coming act of the era (including later superstar acts Alabama, Ricky Skaggs and Steve Wariner) made appearances, playing their biggest and current hits."
OMG and that reminds me of Sha Na Na which we LOVED because we were big oldies fans in our family. They also had musical guests!
God the 80s had tons of musical shows on TV. Now it's all copaganda shit.
