They probably asked Andre and not Terry bc he’s the one up for the Supporting Actor Emmy for the show (he’s been nominated before but this his first nom in the category for four years).

I like what he said, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch or rewatch B99 anymore. I can’t even bring myself to reblog gifs of it on tumblr

It's a travesty that he hasn't won an Emmy for this role yet.

But yeah, I've been the same way, which sucks because I love Melissa Fumero.

Truly adore this cast - with one exception - but I just cannot watch a show like this anymore. I did like the fan suggestion that they suddenly switch to a post office tho

I would die ( in the best way) if they just cold opened a new season and they're suddenly in a post office or DMV. don't even address it. Just pretend it's always been like that, lol.

Love him. I hope B99 handles this well, though admittedly I haven’t watched the show in a while.

I remember watching an episode of SVU where Benson goes to Andre for help. Her brother got his kid taken because the cops found weed on him. She said the punishment seemed harsh. Andre was like yeah, that’s usually the punishment for POC. Then Benson said the kid was half-black, and Andre said well... that’s why. It stuck with me because it’s so fucked up but true.

I love Andre and his performance in Homicide is really wonderful. I never saw Homicide as hero worship of cops but as fairly realistic portrayal of cops, flaws and all. But I will admit, it's been a few years since I've seen it and my perspective may be changed when I watch it again.

The book it’s based on, which is non-fiction, does a pretty good job of telling the history of police brutality in Baltimore* and showing that if they solve any murder it’s through sheer luck, not hard work or skill.

*It was either Homicide or The Corner.

As someone who does like copaganda shows (I'm trying to do better!! ;_;) police brutality is just so accepted, so glorified and normalized. There's at least one scene per episode where a cop smacks around, pushes, grabs or otherwise physically assaults someone who was not under arrest, was not resisting, had not committed a crime, but it's shown as ok because 1. the person was a scumbbag/criminal and 2. because it works! Their battery is rewarded by the guy going "OK OK I'll tell u where he is!!!" so people who watch this shit uncritically see Good Cop trying to catch Bad Murderer smack around Dirtbag Druggie a lil bit and bam, case solving information falls out of him, so it's totally justifiable and normal ( ... )

yeah I remember watch SVU when I was younger and whenever Stabler was reprimanded for like excessive force or something I almost always immediately thought "god why can't they just leave him alone so he can do his job it's not that big a deal!!!"

Also every cop/fbi show ALWAYS painted having to go to therapy after something traumatic happened as a nuisance and something they have to do just so they can get back to work and Internal Affairs is the villain.

they really dialed this up to 1000 on that Lucy Liu show elementary.
there was a storyline where this one morally pure stand up cop character (who I loved bc of the actor) finds out a girl he’s seeing is from internal affairs and I swear the entire episode was played out like he just found out she was a serial killer.
I don’t think I’ve ever rolled my eyes harder in my life.

there was another episode that was super blatant and over the top with the cop worship and this was around the time I learned about all the military propaganda in Hollywood movies so I payed attention to the credits and I think I remembered them thanking the NYPD in one section.

I was like ew this explains everything.
I just wanted to have something murder mystery themed in the background while I work, I didn't come here to watch the NYPD getting high off the fumes of their own assholes.

Yeah I adore Elementary but they’re complicit in copaganda for sure. Idk if shows that film in NY have this unwritten rule where they HAVE to kiss the NYPD’s ass or what, but it’s disappointing.
